Request Shows.........

Presenters of PHB generally feel that request shows are the most important shows we produce.  You might ask yourself why... Simple - on request shows the patients get to directly choose the music which is played.  We have request shows on most nights of the week and a formal rota which is followed to make sure that each ward is visited as often as possible.

Request collecting is important in another way.  For some patients, PHB presenters may be the only visitors they receive during the day with the exception of hospital staff.  To see a friendly face not wielding a thermometer is often 'the best medicine in town' and to get a mention on the radio, what more can we say.

PHB broadcasts a daily request show and the choice is completely yours.  We have a stock of vinyl records, CDs and Mini-Discs totalling approximately 100,000 tracks, so we are certain to have your choice.  Contact us and we'll play your request on the next show.  Or, perhaps you know someone who would like a dedication on the air, and a record played for them.

Look out as well for the PHB request teams who visit the wards of the Queen Alexandra Hospital daily.  Make sure you ask them for your free copy of the Hospital Radio Patient's Guide.

Requests can be collected from the wards, but we are always open to requests from outside the hospital especially where it is not always possible to visit the patient directly.  This past Christmas Eve - the webmaster was fortunate to be able to deliver an emailed request to a patient upon the wards at Queen Alexandra Hospital which had been received from a family member in Australia(!)

If that seems a little excessive, we are also open to requests being phoned in, hand delivered, posted or attached to the leg of a friendly carrier pigeon.  If that is too much - simply click here and complete the friendly on-line form.
